PAPER DRAGON BOOKS
Gavin Dovey has been a professional bookbinder since 1998. His New York based bindery, Paper Dragon Books, was established in 2006 and specialises in custom design binding, book art and box-making.
He is always experimenting and making new design discoveries within his creative projects. His best work often stems from developing an intense, personal connection with a piece, building from the inside-out; text to cover and usually remains the focus of preoccupation until completion.
In addition to his design work, he is familiar with the trade aspect to his craft and can produce bulk edition case bindings, as well as producing custom work for rare book dealers, private collectors, individual and corporate clients, photographers and internationally exhibited artists and designers.
Gavin also teaches many aspects of bookbinding and has taught in many schools across the USA and has operated an apprenticeship program. His work can be seen in various international exhibits.
