Karen Buswell draws on 25 years experience as a designer to create unique, individual handbags; hand crafted to reflect her inherent sense of style, creativity and personality. She has worked within product and interior design and has enjoyed a long career with Mulberry and Highgrove as well as designing for private clients around the world.
Her ethos lies within the love of quality materials, craftsmanship and the pleasure of the labour involved in an object of art. She believes the discerning customer appreciates traditional skills and the need to be individual as an expression of their personality. She often scours antique markets in search of unique and unusual treasures to incorporate into her designs. At times working with other craftspeople to adjust or embellish items in order for it to become the perfect finishing touch.
A lot of thought and time goes into each bag even before any construction begins. Each piece is handmade and hand stitched using traditional skills and tools. Whilst all items are branded, Karen takes a very minimal approach and prefers to keep the branding very small and low key to allow the designs to speak for themselves.
This unique bag has a beautiful panel each side, which has been hand dyed and painted by the talented Nicky Oliver. The fantastic colour combinations gives a classic shape a modern twist. A rich cream veg tanned leather has been used to compliment the panels. The inside has been tight lined in a striking pink suede and includes both a zipped and a slip pocket, both of which have been trimmed with the same cream leather. A tab comes across to secure the top of the bag and closes with a nickel plated magnetic closure. There are also 5 nickel plated feet on the base
